? Dear SimRoom VR3 MkII Community,
TLDR;
1 A page for Q & A on upgrades, provide information & Solidworks files to owners (or suppliers.) If you are a VisionRacer VR3 MkII owner and require the Solidworks files please email me at info@simroom.net
2 Wheel Brace and other brace upgrades. How many people are interested in these for Chrome or Black units? New wheels have more torque than the much loved G25/27 we started on with the VisionRacer. We did a first version for the common wheelbases that follow through today, like Logitech & Thrustmaster. Their new wheels and some more popular emerging direct drive wheelbases have varying mount spacings, so we modified the plate to be wider and thicker. We have the capacity to make a limited run of these as custom-made units. Given order numbers, we can then identify the value we can supply at.
1 Connectors
We understand that some may have experienced issues with the Plastic material of the Tube joiners and some Centre spines in 2010. This was a manufacturing problem limited to that specific year and affected around 300 units, with some replacements already made. Unfortunately, the Chinese manufacturer responsible for production vanished, taking our tools & injection moulds for making further replacements.
As the original manufacturer, we acknowledge that we lack the capacity to invest in new high-cost injection moulds. Instead, we believe in harnessing the collective technical talent within our VR3 owners' community to find solutions. We invite you to join us in resolving this challenge.
One major obstacle we face is the prohibitive cost of shipping from New Zealand, where our parts manufacturer is located, to the UK, Europe, and the US. To overcome this, we propose exploring a turnkey 3D printed replacement part solution that can be conveniently obtained directly from local printing shops.
We are committed to providing open-source CAD files for the parts, allowing you to consider alternative options with accurate dimensions. By leveraging the expertise within our community, we believe we can find innovative and cost-effective solutions.
We encourage you to share your ideas, suggestions and potential remedies. Let's collaborate and work towards resolving this challenge together!
Cheers, David
