If you have ever got close to the historic F1 race cars you will get the essence of "balls out" racing.  These machines were man and machine with little regard to safety.  A seat belt was unheard of and the cockpits were large and open.  The raw talent to drive on skinny, low grip, tires made legends of those who survived like Sterling Moss.
