Fanatec lifts the "gag" order

Wednesday, June 13, 2012

Fanatech are getting ready with their testers reactions starting on the 29th of June.  Testers were recruited from various forums to give their impressions after the beta testing and release period.  Fanatec had asked their testers not to announce their findings until the 29th so the event can be properly managed.  Thomas J must be hanging out with Apple guys, the masters of the product launch.  I do admit I am eagerly looking forward to news and better still a unit to review.

So we can expect to see their new Clubsport wheel base and two wheels being the GT2 BMW variant and the Formula "open wheeler" F1 type.

More to come......

Fanatec ClubSport Pedals V2 Announced

Monday, May 14, 2012

In 2009, Fanatec introduced the ClubSport pedals with sophisticated features such as a load-cell brake and brake pedal vibration.

Since then, Fanatec has expanded their line of pedal sets as the ClubSports have received smaller brothers with the CSR & CSR elite pedal sets. With them successfully introduced, it was time to overhaul the long-running ClubSports to a new version.

The proven base design of the pedals remains unchanged, coming in a new black and brushed aluminum look. More important are the technical changes as the V2 ClubSports comes with a new hydraulic brake.

To accomplish this, the load-cell brake has been equipped with an oil dampener for an even more realistic feeling. Users can adjust the brake pedal by changing the silicone oil and the viscosity alongside the spring tension. The brake pedal has also been made stiffer and comes with less travel for improved feeling.

The clutch has also been overhauled as it now comes with a degressive clutch mechanism developed by Teki Ei-Ichi. The new ClubSports will be shipping together with the new ClubSport wheel, Fanatec has set the price to 249,95 Euros/Dollars, upgrade kits for old ClubSport pedal sets won’t be available.

Fanatec CSR Rim Suggestions Wanted

Saturday, April 14, 2012

Fanatec is getting closer to release their ClubSport Wheel range that will come with interchangeable wheel rims among plenty of other features.

Following the pricing announcement of the base and the first two rims (the BMW GT2 & Formula rims), Fanatec is now asking the community for ideas regarding future wheel rims.

So far, the following rims are being planned:

  • BMW GT2
  • FORMULA
  • NASCAR
  • Classic (wood)
  • Classic F1
  • F1 licensed
  • F1 generic
  • LMP1
  • Drift
  • Rallye
  • Porsche GT
  • Simrace special (not realistic but optimized for performance)

This is just a rough order that doesn’t indicate any production priorities. To make these rims a success, Fanatec is looking for input from the community is looking for opinions regarding aspects such as:

  • Amount of buttons
  • Amount of shifter paddles (analog and/or buttons)
  • Material of rim
  • Material and colours of the inner rim
  • Diameter
  • Weight
  • Target price

You can either post your ideas in Fanatec’s blog.

Fanatec ClubSport Shifter – First Photo

Thursday, March 22, 2012

Fanatec has released a first photo of their ClubSport Shifter unit, letting people know that the development on the shifter is still very much alive and kicking.

Following the highly advanced ClubSport wheels, the shifter will be giving sim racers access to a shifting unit that looks to be made of extremely sturdy materials.

Like with their latest CSR & ClubSport wheels, Fanatec seems to continuing their push away from plastic, there aren’t anymore details about the features of the new shifter yet.
